About Tega Cay, SC

A Recreational Community built on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Wylie

Tega Cay thrives as a vital and recreational community. The 1600-acre peninsula, surrounded by 16 miles of shoreline, offers golf, swimming, boating, tennis, hiking and biking trails. Tega Cay has rugged topography and many wooded greenbelts. Voted #2 safest city to live in South Carolina in 2018, there is only one road for entering and exiting the city, Tega Cay Drive.  The new police station is on Tega Cay Drive near the entrance to the peninsula. The newer, modern clubhouse and Glennon Community Center are located in the center of the city and include a restaurant, bar, and Golf Pro-Shop. Diners may sit inside, or outside on the veranda overlooking the golf course. The new Tega Cay Elementary School is also at the entrance to the peninsula.  Many children have the fun of being safely delivered to school by golf carts. And Fridays are designated as "Walk or Ride Your Bike To School" days. This is not mandatory. But many kids do this every day. There are sidewalks, bike trails, crosswalks and Crosswalk guards for safety.
The Parks and Recreation Department offers very active and competitive sports programs. There are eight tennis courts, junior Olympic sized swimming pool, athletic fields, two waterfront parks, miles of walking trails, interior parks, and a marina .
There are no HOA dues in Tega Cay. The city is managed by a City Council form of government. City management and maintenance of parks and facilities are paid for by city property taxes.
